Based on the comic book, ‘The Secret Service’ created by Dave Gibbons and Mark Millar, Kingsman: The Secret Service released in 2014 was blockbuster hit as stood high as a slam bang action movie which was stylish, subversive and strikingly funny. It was directed by Matthew Vaughn, the maker of ‘X-Men: First Class’.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle is a sequel to that series featuring Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Taron Egerton, Mark Strong, Halle Berry, Elton John, Channing Tatum and Jeff Bridges. This action packed spy thriller has again been directed by Matthew Vaughn who has collaborated with Jane Goldman while drafting the screenplay.
With their headquarters destroyed by Poppy (Juliaane Moore), a member of the secret group “The Golden Circle” and a notorious criminal mastermind, members of Kingsman find new allies when they discover a spy organization in the United States known as Statesman. In an adventure that tests their strength and wits, the elite secret agents from both sides of the pond band together to battle a ruthless enemy and save the day! The Golden Circle is in fact a secret New World Order organization with which Poppy is associated as a global entrepreneur, Poppy.
Taron Egerton appears as Gary “Eggsy” Unwin / Galahad, a Kingsman secret agent and the protagonist of the series. Colin Firth as Harry Hart, Eggsy’s ‘eye-patch-wearing’ former mentor and a former Galahad, who was presumed dead after the events of the first film, in which he was shot in the head, though it now appears he was only hit in the eye. Channing Tatum appears as Tequila, a secret agent of Statesman. Halle Berry plays Ginger Ale, Statesman’s tech support. Jeff Bridges is Champagne Champ, the head of Statesman. Mark Strong plays Merlin, Eggsy’s trainer. Pedro Pascal plays Whiskey, a Statesman secret agent. It is interesting to know as to how the organization ‘The Golden Circle’ got its name! The henchmen of Poppy burn off the finger prints of the members file their teeth flat and mark themselves with a 24 karat gold circle embedded into their skin! It is believed that a third one is also being planned by Matthew Vaughn and Jane Goldman!
